What is Faux Fur?

Faux Fur is fake fur.  It is an alternative to real fur, and is much more popular.  It can be hard to tell the difference, many people purchase Faux Fur as they know that no animals have been bred and killed for their item.  We only use 100% Faux Fur and guarantee that no real fur is used in any of our throws or cushion covers.

What is it made of?

Faux Fur is made of fine synthetic fibres and is usually knitted.  This can be dyed to any animal pattern design or colour. Modacrylic, acrylic and polyester fibres are used.

Where are our products made?

We produce all of the throws and cushions ourselves here in the UK. Although much of the faux fur fabric we use is produced and imported from China, some fur designs are made here in the UK. We also make the cowhide and sheepskin footstools in our own studio together with pet products, fur garments and seat pads.

How many sizes do you do in your faux fur throws?

We make a range of sizes, 9 standard sizes in total from a 39” x 59” (100cm x 150cm) to a 118” x 118” (300cm x 300cm). But as we make all of them ourselves, we are happy to produce other sizes if you need them. This also applies to the cushion covers.

What backing do the throws come in?

They are available with either a faux-suede, or a thin supersoft fleece backing (Velboa), or they can be produced in double-sided fur (using 2 thicknesses of fur). However, double-sided throws are not offered in a few of our designs because the fur is just too thick and heavy to manage. Please consider the additional weight if ordering a double-sided throw. These are also treated as bespoke items, made to order, and as such are non-returnable.

Will my faux fur throw shed fibres?

Although we take great care to remove as many loose fibres as possible that occur during the manufacturing process, some may remain. When you first receive your throw, give it a gentle shake or ideally lightly vacuum it to remove any remaining fibres. Under normal use your throw will not ‘cast’ or shed hairs, although sometimes some of the longer hairs can be broken off if the throw is sat on regularly.

How do I care for my faux fur throw?

Please read our section on ‘Aftercare’ on our website.

Where do your cowhide rugs originate from?

Our cowhide rugs originate from Brazil, Argentina, Chile and Venezuela.
