Faux Fur is fake fur. It is an alternative to real fur, and much more popular. It can be hard to tell the difference, many people purchase Faux Fur as they know that no animals have been bred and killed for their item. We only use 100% Faux Fur and guarantee that no real fur is used in any of our throws or cushion covers.
Faux Fur is made of fine synthetic fibres, and is usually knitted. This can be dyed to any animal pattern design or colours.
We produce all of the throws and cushions ourselves here in the UK. Although much of the faux fur fabric we use is produced and imported from China, some fur designs are made here in the UK. We also make all of the furniture items too, including the cowhide and sheepskin footstools, and the small wooden furnishing items such as the door stops.
We do a range of sizes, 9 standard sizes in total from a 39” x 59” (100cm x 150cm) to a 118” x 118” (300cm x 300cm). But as we make all of them ourselves, we are happy to produce other sizes if you need them. This also applies to the cushion covers.
They are available with either a faux-suede, a thin supersoft fleece backing, or they can be produced double-sided fur (using 2 thicknesses of fur). However, double-sided throws are not offered in a few of our designs because the fur is just too thick and heavy to manage. Please consider the additional weight if ordering a double-sided throw. These are also treated as bespoke items, made to order, and as such are non-returnable.
Although we take great care to remove as many loose fibres as possible that occur during the manufacturing process, some may remain. When you first receive your throw, give it a gentle shake or ideally vacuum it to remove any remaining fibres. Under normal use your throw will not ‘cast’ or shed hairs, although sometimes some of the longer hairs can be broken off if the throw is sat on regularly.
Please read our section on ‘Aftercare’ on our website.
Our cowhide rugs originate from Brazil, Argentina, Chile and Venezuela.
Our tables are made from solid oak. This can either be European or American oak. We only use ‘green’ oak which is freshly cut timber with a high moisture content, or semi air dried oak. In both instances the timber may continue to develop splits and cracks over time; this is an intentional part of our rustic furniture and we will not consider credits/refunds/returns for this reason. It is important in the early weeks and months of your tables life, that you continue to wax the piece using natural furniture wax (not the spray silicone polish types) This will not only enrich and improve the look of the furniture, but will also limit the amount of moisture loss which can sometimes cause slightly larger cracks to appear if moisture loss is too sudden.
You can be assured that any information you offer whilst paying for your order is completely secure. You will find more detailed information about methods of payment and your security by clicking this link https://www.home-furnishing-direct.co.uk/content/your-security.html
Although every attempt is made to dispatch your order as soon as possible, usually within a few days, sometimes due to seasonal pressures, high demand for particular lines or manufacturing challenges, there may be extended delays. For these reasons we ask that you allow up to 28 days for delivery. If you have a specific occasion that you require your order for, please contact us before placing an order to confirm our delivery schedules. All patchwork cowhide rugs and furniture items are made as required with an approximate lead time of around 4 weeks.
We only charge you the actual cost of carriage that we pay, and in many cases absorb some of the cost ourselves. The delivery charge is calculated by a combination of weight and volume. In almost all instances it is possible to order several items without increasing the cost of delivery. You can find more information about our delivery methods by using this link https://www.home-furnishing-direct.co.uk/content/delivery.html
We ask that you contact us as soon as possible and send a follow up e-mail confirming cancellation. No bespoke items, patchwork cowhide rugs or furniture orders can be cancelled once manufacture has commenced.
If any of our products arrive damaged, or parcels in the consignment are missing, please notify us as soon as possible. It is always best when receiving goods to sign for them ‘unchecked’. Any damaged items will be replaced or refunded as required. If an item is merely not wanted, it can be returned to us for a credit or refund (minus the original delivery coast). Please note that you must first contact us to inform us of the return. The item must be in its original packaging and completely unused. All returned items are checked prior to refunds/exchanges/credits.
